Titans Struggle to Keep Up in Destiny 2's Final Shape Era

The balance of power among the three classes in Destiny 2 has always been a delicate dance, but the latest expansion, The Final Shape, seems to have tipped the scales away from one class in particular: the Titans. As players dive into the new content, it's become increasingly evident that Titans are facing a distinct disadvantage compared to their Warlock and Hunter counterparts.

Titans Lose Their Luster in High-End Content

One of the most glaring issues facing Titans in the current Destiny 2 landscape is their diminished role in high-end content, such as raids. The data speaks for itself – only a tiny fraction of the initial Salvation's Edge raid clears were achieved by Titan players, with just three Titans making it into the top 50 teams. This stark contrast highlights the class's struggle to keep up with the support capabilities of Warlocks and the damage output of Hunters.

Fading Relevance in Raid Encounters

In the past, Titans were often considered indispensable, with their Bubble and Thundercrash abilities providing crucial support and damage-dealing capabilities. However, these once-powerful tools have fallen behind, leaving Titans without a significant role in the most challenging endgame activities. The dominance of Warlock Wells and Hunter Golden Gun has pushed Titans to the sidelines, and this trend needs to be addressed to ensure a more balanced and engaging experience for all players.

Prismatic Shortcomings

The introduction of the Prismatic system in The Final Shape has also highlighted the challenges facing Titans. While Warlocks and Hunters seem to have access to a more cohesive and synergistic set of skills and aspects, Titans appear to have been left behind. The absence of certain key aspects, such as the replacement of the powerful Banner of War with the less impactful Drengr's Lash, has left Titans feeling like they're missing crucial pieces of their toolkit.

Exotic Class Item Woes

Another area where Titans have struggled is in the realm of exotic class items. Many of these specialized pieces of gear are either barrier-dependent or simply don't mesh well with the Titan's Thruster ability, which has become a go-to choice for most players. This lack of compelling exotic options has led some Titan mains to simply give up on farming for these elusive items, further exacerbating the class's perceived shortcomings.

Glimmers of Hope

It's important to note that Titans haven't been entirely left behind in The Final Shape. The class has received some intriguing new additions, such as the void greataxe super, which offers a unique and powerful option for Titan players. Additionally, the Hazardous Propulsion exotic armor piece has been hailed as one of the best new additions, providing a significant boost to rocket sidearms and Thruster abilities. However, these bright spots do not overshadow the larger issues facing Titans in the current Destiny 2 landscape. The class's diminished role in high-end content, the Prismatic system's shortcomings, and the lack of compelling exotic options all contribute to a sense of imbalance that needs to be addressed by the developers. As Destiny 2 players continue to explore the depths of The Final Shape, it will be crucial for Bungie to closely monitor the class dynamics and make the necessary adjustments to ensure that Titans can once again find their place among the game's elite. Only then can the delicate balance of power be restored, allowing all three classes to shine in their own unique ways.
