Nobody Who Buys An Electric Car Wants To Get Another One: SURVEY

The Surprising Truth About Electric Vehicle Ownership: Buyer's Remorse and Waning Demand

The Biden administration, along with far-left politicians and international governments, have been pushing consumers to embrace electric vehicles (EVs) with increasing fervor. However, a recent survey has revealed a surprising trend: a significant portion of EV owners are now expressing a desire to switch back to traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) cars, shedding light on the challenges facing the EV industry.

Disenchanted EV Owners Seek a Return to Familiar Fuel

Declining Demand and Shifting Production Plans

The lack of demand for EVs has forced manufacturers to reevaluate their future production plans, with some even abandoning electric models entirely. Car dealerships, once enthusiastic about the EV revolution, have now turned to the administration and other political entities, pleading for a pullback on EV policies due to the collapsing interest among consumers.

The Surprising Buyer's Remorse Among EV Owners

According to a recent survey conducted by McKinsey, nearly half of EV owners in the United States have no intention of purchasing another electric vehicle. A staggering 46 percent of these owners stated that they were "very" likely to switch back to a traditional ICE car. The survey, which covered more than 37,000 buyers globally, also found that nearly 30 percent of buyers in Europe and 49 percent of those in Australia had buyer's remorse.

The Challenges Facing the EV Industry

The survey results highlight the fundamental issue with attempting to force consumers into a product they may not fully embrace. While electric cars have their place and Tesla has made strides in addressing charging infrastructure, the public charging experience for non-Tesla EVs can be frustrating at best and inoperable at worst.

Battery Degradation and Weather Challenges

Another significant concern is the rapid degradation of EV batteries, which can significantly impact the promised range within a few years, depending on usage. Additionally, EV performance can be severely impacted by extreme weather conditions, particularly in the cold, making them a less practical choice for those living in the Midwest or Northeast.

Charging Accessibility and Range Anxiety

The promised range of EVs also relies on the availability of accessible and consistently functioning charging stations. However, the realities of infrastructure availability and the dangers of running out of battery power force drivers to plan their trips and commutes meticulously, adding an extra layer of complexity to EV ownership.

The Questionable Environmental Benefits of EVs

While there are certainly positive aspects to electric vehicles, the Biden administration's push for widespread EV adoption may be driven more by a "futile hope to solve 'climate change'" than by practical considerations. In fact, in some cases, EVs can be worse for the environment than traditional gas-powered cars, further complicating the narrative around their environmental benefits.

The Need for Pragmatic Solutions, Not Delusional Mandates

The survey results suggest that the Biden administration's and other governments' efforts to force consumers into electric vehicles may be misguided. Instead, the focus should be on allowing private industry to develop practical solutions that address the concerns of EV owners and potential buyers. Delusional mandates and the removal of consumer choice are unlikely to be the answer, as the data clearly shows a growing disenchantment with the current state of electric vehicle technology and infrastructure.
